Quick takes : Walking into the night , Feb 2015

Two guys followed by a woman and her young daughter walk along Bath Street , just outside Sneinton Market in Nottingham towards a square hosting street dancing as part of the Light Night celebrations in 2015. One of the more interesting images from the evening – and this was before it had begun.

The sodium street lighting brings to life a gritty urban scene with the undeveloped Sneinton Mark, and yet shows a bit of life in the silhouettes of the people walking along the street. Orange and blue always works well for a colour palette too!

I shot this with the narrow depth of field (85mm f/1.4) to soften the barber shop in the background , a shutter speed of 1/50th made sure the people weren’t too static!
