Urban Landscape of Maid Marian Way , Nottingham
A unusual look at Collin Street and Maid Marian Way in Nottingham which were closed to traffic for two nights in early January 2018 due to demolition works at the nearby Broadmarsh Car Park .
Two footbridges were being removed over Collin Street – and I wanted to document some of that (in a later blog) , but I also wanted to take full advantage to get some unique views of Collin Street – as it passes underneath the nearby Arndale Car Park – clad in concrete.
The patchy road surfacing and worn paint markings tell a story of how the road would usually be very busy with traffic , being one of the major routes around Nottingham City Centre. This area of the city is set to change significantly in the next five years due to redevelopment of the Broadmarsh Centre and the nearby Nottingham Castle . The existing urban landscape of this area has seen little change since the Broadmarsh originally opened in 1973.
