An evening in Southwell , Nottinghamshire
Here’s what I came up with from a spontaneous off the cuff photo walk from around the town of Southwell in Nottinghamshire one evening back , a week or so again. (It helps that earlier that day I had a successful interview with Nottingham’s Creative Quarter and a forthcoming showcase on their platforms detailing the work I do – more soon!).
I’d come along a bit too late to be able to have a look inside the main grounds of the Cathedral , but the low sun did yield some interesting shadow/light splits in the grounds itself (2nd image from top).
Going from there I got to look at Rampton Prebend with it’s interesting flower beds – I’d have like to get closer if it weren’t for being a Grade II listed private house , and essentially someone’s front garden there! The colourful facade of the La Parisienne restaurant stood out well on the high street with the blue skies adding to the vivid colours around then. The main street was pretty narrow , and the traffic around called for a bit of patience.
The sunset view from the end of the main street at towards the north of the town (6th image) was a good treat .This made me resolve to keep going in the direction of the Racecourse and eventually came across Froggatt’s Field , dedicated for public use – together with a resting hut . The last of the sunlight was well spent highlighting the form of a converted old mill towards the town. I’d taken one last look back towards Southwell at some signs detailing where to go next – though for me it was back on the Pathfinder to Nottingham , the evening’s work satisfyingly done.
