Some takes above from the first part of a good Thursday evening spent walking around and exploring the urban landscapes of Derby City Centre for the first time in a while now.

I first took a look at the Weeping Window Poppies by Paul Cummins which were installed on the Silk Mill tower and had an opportunity to say hello to some faces the “Togs” of Derby and meet some of those following my work from afar! It’s very pleasing to be able to meet other photographers and to see quite a good group of people engaging and creating with the medium with excellent guidance and help from Victoria Wilcox , a press photographer with the Derby Telegraph. Signed up myself to the group and looking forward to seeing some talks , possibly taking part in some myself down the line!

What I’d really wanted to do was to look at the Weeping Window by dusk – and that meant I’d had plenty of time to kill , so a photowalk around Derby was in order… I’ll have the dusk images later but above was a small taster of what I’d seen around the city illuminated by the low clear sun. Highlights being the Derby cathedral framed by shadows cast along Irongate – and also the imposing architecture of the Strand Arcade looming in the background of Sadler Gate.
