October showcase – a Goose Fair Special
A short update to announce I’ve updated my showcase gallery- this month will be devoted Goose Fair Special – featuring my work from one of the largest traveling fairs in Europe which happens to be very much on my doorstep in Nottingham.
Adventures at Goose Fair
Through my work I’m personally one big sucker for photographing night-time scenes – and I love the way fairground rides with their really impressive lighting light up the night sky.I’ve been drawn to photographing Goose Fair for a number of years now – since 2009 in far when I was first getting to grips with photography using a borrowed camera from the University’s Photosoc – a long while ago! Always been a good atmosphere and some interesting rides when I get to have a ride of them but you wouldn’t see me on the faster ones in particular…. 😉
Messing around with long exposures
This year I’m curious to try some extremely long exposure sets – in the spirit of Roger Vail‘s geometric studies of the motion of fairground rides. Long exposure is something I’ve looked into a few times , in the realm of 10-30 seconds or so – but am curious to see what happens if I use a neutral density filter to really slow things down much more than that!
