Here’s a look back at yesterday’s rally organised by the People’s Assembly in Nottingham in the wake of the success of the Leave campaign in last week’s EU referendum. Unfortunately it seems as if the decision to leave the EU was influenced by a xenophobic mindset nationally in the wake of recent austerity , and it is precisely this which is being protested here to good effect.

A disturbing trend seems to be the sheer lack of understanding and knowledge of the EU , and this country’s role in it – along with a xenophobic outlook from a disenfranchised (and neglected) working class , which seems to have played a large part in the success of the Leave campaign and it is this which is being protested here.

On a personal level , and without straying too far into the realms of political commentary I wasn’t convinced by the Leave campaign (and frankly disgusted too at some of their tactics) – and having been helped personally with this venture through ERDF funding from EU there I chose to vote remain.

Fantastic photos here from the event! I especially love the one where the little girl is seemingly looking at the ‘Corbyn is our only hope’ sign. Excellent work.

Thanks for the kind comments Tasha – I feel that girl is speaking for many people here , which is why I knew it would make an important image.

I have found your photos very beautiful capturing colour and emotion on the rainy overcast day. I was there with my Grandson who is half Polish and only 5 . I am grateful of your record of this event
